My client is a specialist news and analysis service that focuses on private deals in the international debt markets, you will be speaking to traders and originators to hunt down news on new deals or gossip on the market. Writing a mixture of deal snaps, market news and trend pieces you will be joining a friendly team working on a market leading product. My client is deeply embedded in this market, running a series of global conferences, annual awards and even charity poker nights. So, if you are the kind of journalist who would prefer to hunt down an original story, rather than re-write press releases, then this job could be ideal. Any day’s coverage will reflect what’s going on in the credit, equities, rates, currencies, commodities and inflation markets across the US, Europe and Asia Pacific. The markets you will be covering are at the cutting edge of investors’ efforts to profit from or protect themselves from events and trends – surging oil prices or the sovereign debt crisis for example. You will need to be able to get your head round complex deal structures and understand what drives decisions in this market and you could find your stories picked up by mainstream media such as the FT, Bloomberg and Reuters. This job will suit someone who loves to work in a fast-paced environment, enjoys the interplay of the financial markets and has some knowledge of bonds, plus excellent communication and writing skills.
